FANTASTIC VOLKSWAGEN CRAFTER MOTORHOME CONVERSION! Thanks for viewing my lovely VW Crafter MWB camper/motorhome.
It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to part ways with this truly awesome Crafter. Air Conditioning try and find one! As soon as I bought the Crafter I had it fully serviced with oil, air and fuel filter, fresh oil and the all important timing belt and water pump change (which arent due until April 2020). Ive since carried out the oil and filter changes myself as they really are simple!
After I sorted out the mechanics I moved on to converting the Crafter myself. Firstly I sound deadened with flash band and then lined the walls and ceiling with Thermoliner closed cell insulation.I then moved on to fitting two mini-heki roof vents with blinds and fly screens, then 2x opening double glazed windows with blinds and fly screens were fitted. The walls have been fully lined in anthracite carpet and the ceiling is lined in light grey suedeliner material. There are led down lighters and a touch sensitive light fitted to the ceiling.
The floor is insulated using underlay insulation and is finished in black Altro non-slip flooring. I designed the camper to sleep three people - two adults in a slide out double bed (which in the daytime is the main seating area) and a kids bed which is situated at the rear of the camper via a ladder. The bed area has loads of storage underneath and lifts up by gas struts. Storage wise there is plenty - a wardrobe, two overhead lockers, over-cab shelf and utensil/crockery storage under the kitchen unit. These are all accessed by space-saving tambour doors.
There is also lots of room for camping equipment under the rear bed. The kitchen and cupboard units are finished in lightweight black driftwood style ply and the worktop and removable table are finished in solid beech. Cooking and washing-up is carried out using the Smev double burner and sink with pumped cold water and 23 lite water tank. I fitted an energy efficient Waeco CRX50 fridge/freezer which is great even in hot climates.
Electrics are powered by a Banner Energybull 130 amp hour battery which is powered by a split charge relay, 100W Victron solar panel and MPPT controller and a Sargent EC155 power management system. I have fitted a Propex Heatsource 2000 night heater for those chilly nights/mornings - this and the cooker are powered by propane gas. There is no shower or toilet as I use on-site facilities.
I did however have a portaloo for emergencies! Externally the Crafter is in great condition with some minor marks and scratches which are to be expected. There is a Fiamma F65s awning fitted which is great for shade. I have fitted a 600w led lightbar to the front which is great for those dark lanes or wild camping spots! Gas barbecue point and Electric Hook Up point. Fiamma 200DJ two bike rack. Led awning light on sliding door.
The tyres are Cooper Discoverer all-terrain, these compliment the rugged off-road style look perfectly and will get you out of a muddy field no problems. They do rub slightly on full-lock but its never bothered me - I may sort this before I sell. Im sure I could go on and on about this beauty but Im sure you get the idea! I drove all the way to Croatia last year and it didnt miss a beat.
Id happily drive anywhere in this Crafter! Any questions please send a message. Cash or bank transfer only. Mileage will increase very slightly but not much. Thanks for taking the time to read!
